Ryan C. Watkins joined Raizner Slania to focus his practice on insurance coverage and other insurance issues affecting businesses. Ryan has worked in the legal industry since 2011, including at one of the top law firms in the country as well as with groups engaged in policy research and analysis. He has a prominent legal background in matters involving complex commercial litigation, domestic and international arbitrations, and business transactions. Ryan is a true trial lawyer with experience at every stage of litigation, from filing lawsuits through appeals. Ryan has successfully litigated cases in both state and federal courts across multiple states, including California, Michigan, Missouri, New York, and Texas.
Ryan has substantial experience working with clients in general contract, supply chain, warranty and recall, trade secret, insurance, securities, business torts and fraud, and products liability litigation, arbitration, and commercial transactions. Ryan is a client-centered litigator with experience representing a range of clients and matters from counseling small, closely held business in all aspects of commercial, litigation, and regulatory matters to representing large businesses in complex litigation and regulatory matters, including in high-stakes, bet-the-company litigation. He has worked with many large-scale clients, including multiple tier one automotive suppliers and Fortune 500 corporations.
Ryan graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in History (Honors), Political Science, and Education in 2005. He earned his law degree from University of Michigan Law School in 2013 and a Masters of Public Policy from University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy that same year.
Prior to his career in law, he was a high school social studies teacher and was named Teacher of the Year for three consecutive years at his school, as well as being nominated for the Chicago Public Schools Educator of the Year Award twice. Ryan also worked in Washington, D.C, at one of the nation’s premiere public policy think tanks focusing on American public education reform.
Ryan is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar of Michigan.
